Wintermute's Armitage Taps Railnet for Onchain Yield Vault Infrastructure

Armitage, the onchain curation arm of global algorithmic trading firm Wintermute, has selected Railnet to provide the vault infrastructure for its new suite of decentralized finance (DeFi) yield strategies. The collaboration aims to build and distribute managed, multi-source yield products to fintech platforms, exchanges, and institutional wallets.
Wintermute is a major digital asset trading firm, averaging more than $10 billion in daily trading volume. This move signals a push by established crypto-native players to create more sophisticated and accessible onchain investment products that combine various yield sources under a single, managed framework.
Inaugural Strategies and Asset Allocation
The first strategy slated to go live on Railnet is "WETH Yield," which targets a 3–4% annual yield. According to the announcement, this product will combine leveraged ETH staking with lending and private credit, featuring a 48-hour redemption period. The goal is to provide institutions with a managed strategy for the yield on their ETH holdings.
Following the WETH vault, Armitage plans to launch two USDC-based strategies that integrate onchain lending with tokenized real-world assets (RWAs):
- USDC Prime: A conservative allocation comprising 80% in Armitage Prime on Morpho, 15% in tokenized U.S. Treasuries through Ondo (OUSG), and a 5% USDC liquidity reserve.
- USDC Select: A broader strategy including 75% in Armitage Select on Morpho, 10% in secured lending via Maple Finance, 10% in Ondo's OUSG, and a 5% USDC reserve.
AdThe Strategic Rationale
Railnet's infrastructure enables Armitage to combine assets with different liquidity profiles and settlement timelines into a single onchain Net Asset Value (NAV). While Armitage can rebalance assets across approved venues, the platform's controls prevent the withdrawal or redirection of funds, providing an added layer of security.
Armitage leverages Wintermute’s extensive trading and risk management expertise to execute its own liquidations. This capability allows it to accept a wider range of collateral types, thereby expanding the potential yield opportunities for depositors beyond what is typically available in standard DeFi lending markets.
"Onchain capital management is maturing past single lending markets, and the hard part of curating across more sources is the risk," said Igor Igamberdiev, Lead at Armitage. "Armitage brings years of risk discipline to that, and Railnet provides the infrastructure to run and distribute these strategies onchain."
