ChangeNOW Patches Data Vulnerability, Launches AI Security Initiative

Cryptocurrency platform ChangeNOW announced on October 15 that it has fixed a security vulnerability in a website integration after being alerted by independent researchers. While the company stated there is no evidence the flaw was exploited, it is proactively warning clients about the potential exposure of certain information.
Security Incident Details
According to the company's statement, the vulnerability was confined to a third-party integration on its website and has since been fully patched. ChangeNOW emphasized that its core transaction infrastructure was not compromised and that customer funds were never at risk.
The potentially exposed data includes users' email addresses and transaction details. Out of an abundance of caution, ChangeNOW is operating on the assumption that the researchers who reported the issue may not have been the only ones to discover it, prompting the public advisory.
Client Advisory and Phishing Risks
ChangeNOW is urging its clients to be vigilant against suspicious or fraudulent messages. The company warned that malicious actors could potentially leverage the exposed transaction details to craft convincing phishing scams that appear to be legitimate communications from the platform.
AdTo mitigate this risk, clients are advised to:
- Scrutinize any unexpected messages claiming to be from ChangeNOW.
- Verify the sender's email address, as official communications are sent exclusively from `[email protected]`.
- Remember that ChangeNOW will never ask for a private key, seed phrase, or any password via email.
Launch of NOW AI Lab
In response to the incident and the broader threat landscape, ChangeNOW has accelerated the launch of NOW AI, a dedicated security protection lab. The company stated the lab's mission is to elevate security standards across all its products.
NOW AI will focus on applying artificial intelligence to defensive security measures, aiming to detect threats earlier and build more robust protections into its platform. ChangeNOW noted that the recent vulnerability highlighted the need to move faster in deploying advanced defensive technologies. More details about the initiative are expected to be released on the company's website.
