Travala to Scale AVA Token Buybacks Based on User Rewards

Travala and the AVA Foundation announced a new tiered buyback mechanism that directly links the platform's monthly token repurchases to user activity. The "AVA Buyback Multiplier" program will scale the company's contribution to its strategic reserve, potentially increasing total monthly buybacks to four times the amount of AVA tokens distributed as member rewards.
New Buyback Mechanism
Under the upgraded structure, announced on October 22, Travala’s monthly buyback will be a multiple of the AVA giveback rewards earned by its AVA Smart members. The AVA Foundation already repurchases the total amount of AVA given to members each month to replenish its rewards pool. Travala will now match that amount with a multiplier based on the total dollar value of the previous month's givebacks.
The tiers for Travala's match are as follows:
- 1x match for monthly givebacks below $100,000
- 1.5x match at $100,000
- 2x match at $150,000
- 2.5x match at $200,000
- 3x match at $250,000 and above
At the highest tier, the combined repurchase from the AVA Foundation (1x) and Travala (3x) would equal four times the total rewards distributed to members for that month.
Implications for AVA Tokenomics
AdThis initiative creates a direct correlation between the travel platform's booking volume and deflationary pressure on the AVA token. While the AVA Foundation's buybacks are returned to its rewards pool, all tokens repurchased by Travala are moved into the AVA Strategic Reserve, a multi-signature wallet from which the company has committed to never sell or transfer.
This effectively removes the tokens from the circulating supply. According to the announcement, the reserve, launched in September 2026, currently holds 598,458.78 AVA. The AVA Foundation has bought back a total of 5,423,181 AVA to date through its own monthly buybacks.
"The AVA Buyback Multiplier ties AVA even more closely to our members’ travel bookings," said Steve Hipwell, Lead Ecosystem Contributor at AVA Foundation. He added that the goal is for AVA's tokenomics to be "simple, transparent, and built around real activity."
Background and Context
Travala, a crypto-native travel booking service backed by Binance, launched the AVA Strategic Reserve in September 2026 to create a permanent holding for its token buybacks. The company stated that all buybacks by both Travala and the AVA Foundation are reported monthly and are verifiable on-chain.
The introduction of the multiplier system is the latest in a series of updates to the AVA ecosystem, following a recent change to its Smart Program lock-up rules and the launch of the Travala AI Agent. The company noted that it may modify or discontinue the multiplier and future purchases at any time, but tokens already in the strategic reserve remain subject to the never-sell commitment.
