Straumann Stock Rises on Goldman Sachs Upgrade to 'Buy'

Shares of Straumann (SIX:STMN) rose in early trading on Monday after analysts at Goldman Sachs upgraded the Swiss dental implant manufacturer to 'Buy' from 'Neutral,' citing a positive outlook for earnings and cash flow generation.
Analyst Rationale
In a note to clients, Goldman Sachs raised its price target on Straumann to CHF 125 from a previous CHF 106. The investment bank stated that the "building blocks are in place" for the company to deliver an acceleration in core EBIT and earnings per share (EPS) growth in fiscal year 2027.
Goldman projects that Straumann's constant currency topline growth will modestly accelerate in the second half of 2026, supported by improving trends in the Asia-Pacific region. The firm forecasts sustained momentum into fiscal 2027 with 9.9% growth.
Growth and Margin Outlook
The upgrade is also based on an expectation of strong margin expansion in fiscal 2027, driven primarily by manufacturing and operating efficiencies. According to Goldman, there is a "plausible path" for Straumann to deliver more than 20% core EBIT growth in fiscal 2027, which would represent its fastest pace since 2018.
AdAnalysts also noted that based on current spot rates, foreign exchange could provide a mid-single-digit tailwind to revenue growth and add approximately 20 basis points to margins.
Cash Flow Turnaround
A key part of the bank's thesis is an expected inflection point in cash conversion. Following a period of elevated capital investment in facilities, including its Shanghai campus and Curitiba extension, which depressed free cash flow (FCF) generation, Goldman forecasts a significant positive shift.
The firm projects 18% FCF growth for the fiscal 2026-2028 period, reversing a negative 4% compound annual growth rate from fiscal 2023-2025. Following the ratings change, Goldman's estimates for fiscal 2027 and 2028 are now 1% to 8% ahead of the Visible Alpha consensus.
