Google Launches Gemini 4 Carbon AI Model to Bolster Cybersecurity Capabilities

Alphabet's Google on Wednesday announced the launch of Gemini 4 Carbon, its latest frontier AI model, with a specialized focus on advanced cybersecurity applications. The move intensifies the company's competition with rivals like OpenAI and Anthropic in the rapidly evolving market for enterprise-grade artificial intelligence.
New Model Focuses on Security
According to a Reuters report, the new model is engineered to handle complex, long-running engineering and coding tasks. Google claims Gemini 4 Carbon delivers state-of-the-art performance on core cybersecurity functions, including vulnerability discovery, exploitation analysis, and automated software patching.
The company stated that on its internal benchmarks, the Carbon model generates secure code at more than twice the success rate of Gemini 4 Argon, a related model introduced just two weeks prior. This highlights Google's push to improve the reliability and security of AI-generated code for developers and enterprise clients.
Phased Rollout and Pricing
Gemini 4 Carbon is not yet widely available. Google is initially releasing the model to a select group of cybersecurity defenders through its Fairwind Program, a measure intended to allow for continued testing of the model's safeguards in a controlled environment.
AdThe company has set the pricing for the new model at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. This pricing structure matches the introductory rates for the recently launched Gemini 4 Argon model, suggesting a consistent pricing strategy for its new generation of AI tools.
Competitive Landscape
The launch of another specialized model just two weeks after its predecessor underscores the accelerating pace of development in the AI sector. Google's rapid expansion of its Gemini family of models is a direct response to offerings from competitors aiming to capture market share among developers and large corporations.
By targeting the high-stakes field of cybersecurity, Google is aiming to carve out a critical niche in the enterprise market, where security and code integrity are paramount. The performance claims for Gemini 4 Carbon position it as a potentially powerful tool for organizations looking to leverage AI to strengthen their digital defenses.
