JCDecaux Added to J.P. Morgan's 'Positive Catalyst Watch' on Strong Ad Momentum

J.P. Morgan has placed shares of JCDecaux on its "Positive Catalyst Watch," signaling anticipation of a strong upcoming earnings report driven by robust advertising sales. The investment bank raised its price target for the outdoor advertising company, citing a constructive outlook from management and better-than-expected trading conditions.
In response to the note, shares of JCDecaux (JCDX) rose 2% on Wednesday's trading session.
Upgraded Forecasts and Price Target
J.P. Morgan now forecasts third-quarter organic revenue growth of 6.3% for JCDecaux, which is above the company's own guidance of "around +5%" and the consensus estimate of 5.5%. The bank's optimism comes ahead of JCDecaux's Q3 revenue release scheduled for November 4.
The bank maintained its "Overweight" rating on the stock and raised its December 2027 price target to €34 a share, up from €30. J.P. Morgan noted this valuation represents an EV/EBITDA multiple of about 8 times, a significant discount to recent M&A multiples in the sector, which have been around 12.5 times.
Drivers of a Bullish Outlook
AdThe analyst note followed a series of investor meetings with JCDecaux's Co-CEO Jean-François Decaux. According to J.P. Morgan, management highlighted several positive trends:
- Resilient Trading: The company is seeing particularly strong performance in the U.S. and Latin America, with continued growth in China despite a challenging macroeconomic environment.
- Programmatic Growth: Programmatic advertising is reportedly growing materially faster than the broader digital segment, delivering incremental revenue. This is supported by strong demand from Chinese auto OEMs and advertisers in the AI sector.
- VIOOH Platform: JCDecaux's programmatic platform, VIOOH, is now cash-flow positive and continues to scale by adding third-party inventory.
- Contract Wins: Recent contract wins in cities like Stockholm, Denver, and Barcelona, along with a major retail contract in France, add to revenue visibility for the second half of 2026 and 2027.
Path to Margin Improvement
J.P. Morgan projects that digital revenue is on track to approach 50% of the group's total revenue in 2025, which it sees as a key driver for margin improvement after several years of pressure. The bank also noted that JCDecaux's free cash flow dynamics are improving as capital expenditures on digital screens move past their peak.
Following the update, J.P. Morgan raised its adjusted EBITDA estimates for 2026 to €862 million and for 2027 to €938 million. Despite the stock's 52% year-to-date gain, the bank stated it continues to see "meaningful upside."
