Nvidia's Next Growth Phase Hinges on Broader AI Demand, Morgan Stanley Says

Nvidia's path to continued growth depends on diversifying its customer base beyond a handful of major cloud providers, according to a recent note from Morgan Stanley. After meeting with the chipmaker's senior management, the investment bank's analysts said the next phase of AI-driven expansion will be powered by a broader mix of enterprise, sovereign, and industrial clients.
A Shift Beyond Hyperscalers
Morgan Stanley, which reiterated its Overweight rating and a $288 price target on the stock, identified Nvidia as its top semiconductor pick. The bank's note highlights that demand is becoming increasingly varied, reducing concerns that Nvidia's performance is tied too closely to the capital expenditure of a few large tech companies.
Key emerging customer segments include:
- AI labs and neocloud providers
- Enterprise customers building proprietary AI
- Sovereign AI projects as nations build domestic infrastructure
- Industrial applications
AdAnalysts reported that Nvidia's management is confident that revenue growth can continue to accelerate, even as quarterly sales approach the $100 billion mark.
Market Position and Investor Outlook
Despite the growing adoption of custom chips by some large tech firms, Morgan Stanley believes Nvidia maintains a dominant share of AI computing workloads. The firm argues that Nvidia's systems continue to offer the lowest cost per AI token for many deployments. Additionally, networking and CPUs are becoming meaningful growth drivers for the company, even within its traditional hyperscale customer base.
Nvidia shares have seen significant volatility as investors balance strong AI infrastructure spending against concerns over high valuations and the durability of demand. The stock, however, ended the previous week up approximately 4%. Morgan Stanley also noted that Nvidia's management is working to broaden its appeal from growth-focused funds to value-oriented investors by emphasizing the company's rapidly growing cash generation.
