Indonesian Stocks Close Sharply Lower, IDX Composite Down 1.48%

Indonesian stocks ended Monday's session significantly lower, with the benchmark IDX Composite Index falling 1.48% to close in Jakarta. The decline was driven by broad-based selling pressure, particularly concentrated in the infrastructure, financials, and agriculture sectors.
Market Details
The negative sentiment was widespread across the Jakarta Stock Exchange, where falling stocks far outnumbered advancers by a margin of 554 to 164, with 114 issues ending the day unchanged, according to market data. The infrastructure and financial sectors, which are heavily weighted in the index, were the primary drivers of the downturn.

- Perdana Bangun Pusaka Tbk PT (JK:KONI), which added 19.05%.
- Bumi Teknokultura Unggul Tbk (JK:BTEK), which rose 18.18%.
AdOn the other end of the spectrum, the session's worst performers were led by Graha Prima Mentari PT Tbk (JK:GRPM), which fell 9.30%, and Platinum Wahab Nusantara Tbk PT (JK:TGUK), which declined 7.78%.
Currency and Commodity Markets
In the currency markets, the Indonesian Rupiah weakened against the U.S. dollar. The USD/IDR pair rose 0.58% to 18,130.20, indicating a depreciation for the local currency.
Commodity markets showed a mixed picture. Crude oil prices retreated, with the December contract for WTI crude falling 1.88% to $101.33 a barrel. In contrast, gold, often seen as a safe-haven asset, saw its December futures contract rise 0.50% to trade at $4,027.77 a troy ounce.
