Trump Pledges to Fix Ukraine Starlink Issues Amid Reports of Ongoing Restrictions

U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday pledged to resolve any ongoing issues with SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service in Ukraine, even as Ukrainian officials reported that speed restrictions on the critical communication system remain in effect.
President Vows Intervention
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump stated he would ensure any problems with the service were addressed. "If there is a problem, I’ll get it straightened out," he said, according to a Reuters report on October 23.
The President noted that he had not yet spoken with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk about the matter but would do so if the access issues were not fixed. Trump also defended the executive, stating, "Elon will never do anything wrong. I know him very well. He’s a fair person."
Conflicting Reports from Ukraine
Trump's comments follow statements from Ukrainian officials on Friday that contradicted a previous White House assertion that Starlink services had been fully restored. The officials maintain that speed restrictions, or "caps," on the satellite network are still active.
AdAccording to the source, these limitations have been in place since October 13 as relations between Kyiv and Washington have reportedly deteriorated. The Starlink system has been a vital tool for Ukraine's military and civilian communications infrastructure.
Context and Market Implications
The situation highlights the significant geopolitical role of a private U.S. company's services in an international conflict. SpaceX, which operates Starlink, has become a key player whose operational decisions are closely monitored by governments and investors.
The public discrepancy between White House statements and the reality on the ground in Ukraine creates uncertainty around the reliability of the critical service. The performance and political entanglements of SpaceX's operations continue to be a focus for market observers.
