Beta Bionics Gains FDA Clearance for Mint Insulin Pump, Lowers 2026 Revenue Outlook

Shares of Beta Bionics Inc. (NASDAQ:BBNX) rose 2.2% on Monday after the company announced it received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its Mint patch pump. Despite the positive regulatory news, the company concurrently lowered its revenue guidance for 2026, citing a potential slowdown in sales as customers await the new device.
FDA Clearance and Product Launch
Beta Bionics secured FDA clearance for Mint, a new insulin patch pump designed for diabetes management. The company plans to begin full U.S. commercialization in the first quarter of 2027, an acceleration of its previous timeline. The device will be launched exclusively through the pharmacy channel.
The Irvine, California-based company stated that it expects approximately 40% of insured individuals in the U.S. to have access at launch, with coverage projected to increase to at least 50% within the first year. Manufacturing capacity is being scaled to produce at least 1.5 million disposable Mint units in 2027.
Key features of the Mint patch pump include:
- A reusable and disposable two-piece design
- Integration with continuous glucose monitors (CGMs)
- Smartphone control for both iOS and Android
- A 200-unit insulin reservoir and a three-day wear time
AdFinancial Outlook Revised
Alongside the FDA clearance, Beta Bionics revised its financial forecast for the full year 2026. The company now projects revenue to be in the range of $121 million to $126 million, a reduction from its previous guidance of $131 million to $136 million.
Management attributed the lowered outlook to an anticipated revenue deferral of up to $10 million in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company believes some prospective users of its current iLet system may delay their purchases to wait for the launch of the new Mint pump. However, Beta Bionics maintained its full-year 2026 gross margin guidance of 58.5% to 59.5%.
Pipeline Developments
Beta Bionics also announced it has submitted its 3D Intelligence insulin dosing algorithm to the FDA through a 510(k) application. Pending regulatory clearance, the company intends to commercialize the algorithm as iLet 3D by the end of 2026 and integrate it into the new pump as Mint 3D at the time of its full launch.
