Lightspeed Shares Rise on Launch of Meta Ad Integration for Retailers

Lightspeed Commerce Inc. (NYSE: LSPD) shares gained on Friday after the company announced a new integration with Meta's advertising platform, designed to help brick-and-mortar retailers measure the direct impact of online ads on in-store purchases. The stock rose 2.9% following the news, according to market data.
Bridging Online Ads and Physical Sales
The new product, "Lightspeed with Meta Conversions API for Lightspeed Retail," directly connects a merchant's physical store operations with Meta's ad ecosystem. According to the company's announcement, this allows retailers to automatically sync their in-store product catalogs and send point-of-sale (POS) transaction data directly to Meta.
This flow of data aims to provide merchants with a clearer picture of their advertising return on investment. By feeding actual in-store sales information into the Meta Conversions API, retailers can more accurately measure campaign effectiveness and optimize ads based on offline purchasing behavior, rather than just online metrics like clicks.
Addressing a Key Retail Challenge
The integration tackles a long-standing challenge for physical retailers: quantifying how digital advertising translates into foot traffic and sales. This measurement gap has historically made it difficult to attribute an in-store purchase to a specific Facebook or Instagram ad.
Ad"Retailers have always known that online ads influence what happens inside their stores, but they didn’t necessarily have a clear way to measure it," said Dax Dasilva, Founder and CEO of Lightspeed, in a statement. "With this integration, we’re finally closing that gap. We’re giving brick-and-mortar merchants access to attribution and advertising intelligence that was once reserved for large ecommerce players."
Implications for Merchants
The tool is designed for both offline-only and omnichannel retailers, giving them a more unified view of performance across sales channels. Key features highlighted by Lightspeed include:
- Automatic POS transaction syncing to provide real-time sales data.
- Native server-side API support for a direct and reliable connection.
- Offline catalog creation, allowing stores without an e-commerce site to promote in-stock items.
For investors, the move is seen as strengthening Lightspeed's value proposition by providing its customers with data analytics tools previously accessible primarily to large e-commerce players. The integration is now available to Lightspeed Retail customers.
