Background

Shares of Computacenter (LSE:CCC) surged on Thursday after the technology services group upgraded its full-year profit forecast and reported a record order backlog, signaling robust demand and stronger-than-expected third-quarter performance.

Second Profit Upgrade

Computacenter announced in a Q3 trading update that its performance was ahead of management's expectations. As a result, the company raised its guidance for full-year 2026 adjusted profit before tax to at least £425 million.

This marks the second significant upward revision to its forecast in less than two months. The new guidance is approximately 9.8% above the company-compiled analyst consensus of £387.1 million. The positive outlook is supported by a record committed product order backlog, which grew by more than a third in a single quarter.

  • Order Backlog: Reached a record £12.6 billion at the end of Q3.
  • Quarterly Growth: Up from £9.3 billion at the end of June.
  • Demand Drivers: The company cited strong order intake from hyperscale, neocloud, and enterprise customers across North America and the UK.

Market Reaction

The company-specific news sent the stock climbing more than 6.7% in morning trading, significantly outperforming the broader UK market, which was trading slightly lower. The rally also represented a technical recovery for the shares, which had fallen sharply in the two prior trading sessions.

Analyst reaction to the update was swift and positive. Jefferies noted that Computacenter had pulled forward another statement "to highlight better than expected trading again" just seven weeks after its last major upgrade. The firm added that the pace at which strong trading is compressing the company’s valuation makes it "increasingly difficult to ignore."
