Background

Vossloh Aktiengesellschaft has lowered its sales and earnings guidance for fiscal year 2026, signaling to investors that shifting customer demand and project delivery delays are set to impact its financial performance.

The Revised Outlook

The German rail infrastructure specialist announced the revised outlook on Monday. The company now projects sales revenue for 2026 to be between €1.51 billion and €1.61 billion, a reduction from the previously guided range of €1.56 billion to €1.66 billion.

Profitability forecasts were also adjusted downward:

  • EBITDA: Lowered to a range of €195 million to €210 million, from a prior forecast of €215 million to €230 million.
  • EBIT: Adjusted to €100 million to €110 million, down from a previous range of €118.5 million to €131 million.

Factors Behind the Adjustment

Vossloh attributed the downgrade to several operational and market factors. The company cited a lower volume of call-offs under existing framework agreements in certain countries, as well as the postponement of deliveries for new construction projects from 2026 into the following year.

Furthermore, profitability is being squeezed by higher procurement and logistics costs that Vossloh stated cannot be fully passed on to customers this year. The company also pointed to expenses associated with capacity adjustments and planned merger and acquisition activities.

H1 Performance and Order Book

The guidance revision comes despite some strong top-line indicators in preliminary results for the first half of 2026. Sales revenue for the first six months rose to €710.1 million from €582.6 million in the same period last year. However, preliminary EBIT for the half declined to €32.4 million from €44.9 million, indicating that the cost pressures are already affecting margins.

On a positive note for future revenue, Vossloh reported a strong order intake of €828.5 million in the first half, a significant increase from €623.7 million in the prior-year period. This pushed the company's order backlog in its rail infrastructure business to a record €1.14 billion.

Vossloh is scheduled to release its final first-half results on July 23, 2026.
