SkyBridge's Scaramucci Says Bitcoin's 55% Drop Signals Strength, Reaffirms $100K Outlook

Anthony Scaramucci, founder of SkyBridge Capital, characterized Bitcoin's recent 55% price decline as a sign of underlying market strength, arguing the correction is significantly less severe than in previous cycles. Speaking at the SALT Wyoming blockchain seminar, he suggested the resilient demand points to a maturing market structure, not an impending crash.
A 'Healthy' Correction
Scaramucci framed the current downturn as a healthy correction, contrasting it with historical Bitcoin bear markets that typically saw drawdowns of 75% to 80%. According to his analysis, the shallower pullback indicates that buying pressure is now more effectively absorbing sales from investors.
This increased resilience suggests a more stable investor base and stronger conviction among holders. While some capital has reportedly shifted from crypto toward artificial intelligence ventures, Scaramucci noted this has not triggered panic selling, but rather a period of lower trading activity.
Shifting Market Fundamentals
The market's dynamics have fundamentally changed due to shifts on both the supply and demand sides. Scaramucci highlighted key structural factors supporting his long-term bullish view:
Ad- Supply Scarcity: The Bitcoin halving in April 2024 cut the block reward for miners from 6.25 to 3.125 BTC. The next halving in 2028 will reduce it further to 1.5625 BTC, continuously tightening the issuance of new supply.
- Institutional Adoption: The launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs has provided a regulated and accessible entry point for traditional financial institutions. This has broadened the investor base far beyond what was seen in prior bear markets, fundamentally altering the price discovery mechanism.
Path to $100,000
Looking ahead, Scaramucci anticipates that the growing imbalance between diminishing new supply and rising institutional demand will ultimately drive prices higher. He reiterated his forecast that Bitcoin could eventually surpass $100,000.
However, he cautioned that the market will likely undergo a period of consolidation before resuming a strong upward trend. This phase is seen as a critical test of the market's new structure as it transitions from being retail-dominated to institution-led.
