Royal Caribbean Shares Rise After Q3 Profit Beat, Upgraded Full-Year Forecast

Royal Caribbean Group (NYSE: RCL) shares gained over 6% in Tuesday trading after the company reported third-quarter earnings that surpassed analyst estimates and raised its financial outlook for the full year, signaling sustained momentum from strong consumer demand.
Q3 Performance and Outlook
Royal Caribbean announced adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $6.57 for the third quarter, beating the consensus analyst estimate of $6.38. While revenue of $5.6 billion was slightly below the expected $5.61 billion, the profit beat and optimistic forecast drove investor confidence.
Following the strong quarter, the company lifted its full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $17.85 to $17.95. The midpoint of this new forecast is above the analyst consensus of $17.83. For the fourth quarter, Royal Caribbean projects an adjusted EPS between $3.48 and $3.58.
Drivers of the Beat
AdThe company attributed its strong performance to robust close-in demand and cost management. Net yields, a key metric for profitability, rose 0.9% on an as-reported basis, exceeding guidance due to better-than-expected demand in its European and Caribbean itineraries. The cruise line served 2.7 million guests in the quarter, a 9% year-over-year increase, achieving a load factor of 112%.
Net cruise costs excluding fuel decreased 1.9% as-reported, a benefit that Royal Caribbean said was partly due to the timing of expenses shifting into the fourth quarter. Analysts at Citi noted that this favorable expense timing was a key factor in the company's outperformance relative to Wall Street's expectations. "Our third quarter results reflect continued strong consumer demand for our vacation experiences," said Chairman and CEO Jason Liberty.
Strategic Developments
Looking ahead, Royal Caribbean expects full-year 2026 revenue to grow by 9% year-over-year. The company also provided an update on its strategic investments, announcing that it expects to close its acquisition of a 50% interest in Sandals and Beaches Resorts in early 2027. Royal Caribbean stated the deal is expected to be immediately accretive to its earnings.
