Roivant Sciences Stock Soars on Positive Lung Drug Trial Data, Phase 3 Launch

Roivant Sciences (ROIV) shares surged more than 22% in pre-market trading after the company announced positive topline results from a mid-stage study of its experimental lung disease treatment. The company also confirmed it has already begun a late-stage trial, signaling strong confidence in the drug's potential.
Positive Trial Data Drives Surge
Roivant's subsidiary, Pulmovant, unveiled favorable data from its Phase 2 PHocus study of mosliciguat. The drug is being evaluated in patients with pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD), a progressive and life-threatening condition with limited treatment options.
The results were presented at the European Respiratory Society International Congress 2026 by Professor Marc Humbert of Université Paris-Saclay, a leading expert in the field. Mosliciguat is a potential first-in-class inhaled soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) activator, representing a novel mechanism for treating the disease.
Accelerated Path to Market
In a move that underscored its confidence in the Phase 2 results, Roivant announced that its Phase 3 PHrontier study of mosliciguat has already been initiated, with patient enrollment now underway. This immediate transition to a late-stage trial accelerates the development timeline toward a potential regulatory approval.
AdRoivant hosted an investor call and webcast to discuss the findings, further focusing market attention on the development. The positive news for mosliciguat follows another recent success for the company. In late August, its subsidiary Priovant received FDA approval for LISRAYA (brepocitinib) for treating dermatomyositis.
Market Reaction and Context
The pre-market rally pushed Roivant's stock price well above its prior 52-week high of $37.97. The significant, company-specific move stood in contrast to the broader market, where major indices were trading flat to modestly lower.
Investors appear to be reacting to the combination of promising clinical data, a clear and accelerated development path for a key asset, and the company's recent track record of execution in securing regulatory approvals. The results suggest a potentially expanded market opportunity for Roivant's pipeline.
