Puffer Finance Taps Anchorage Digital for Institutional Custody on UniFi Network

Summary
Ethereum infrastructure firm Puffer Finance has partnered with federally regulated crypto bank Anchorage Digital to provide institutional-grade custody and settlement services for its upcoming Puffer UniFi network.
Puffer Finance, an Ethereum infrastructure developer, has partnered with Anchorage Digital to provide institutional-grade custody and settlement for its forthcoming Puffer UniFi network. The collaboration designates Anchorage Digital, the first federally regulated crypto bank in the U.S., as the network's day-one institutional custodian.
Institutional Infrastructure for UniFi
According to a September 29 announcement, the partnership will integrate Anchorage Digital's infrastructure to support a range of financial services on the Puffer UniFi platform. The collaboration aims to create a secure and compliant foundation for institutions to hold assets, move stablecoins, and settle transactions on-chain.
Key areas of focus will include:
- Secure Custody: Providing institutional-grade digital asset custody.
- Stablecoin Issuance: Supporting the infrastructure for issuing stablecoins on the network.
- Native Settlement: Facilitating direct, on-chain transaction settlement.
- Agentic Payments: Building rails for programmable and automated financial activities.
Bridging Performance and Ethereum Liquidity
AdPuffer UniFi is being developed as a high-performance execution and settlement network designed to remain directly connected to Ethereum's Layer 1 liquidity through synchronous composability. This architecture is intended to provide institutions with faster transaction speeds without sacrificing access to the security and deep liquidity of the main Ethereum blockchain.
"Institutions want to hold assets, move stablecoins, and settle transactions onchain with the same security and controls they expect everywhere else in their business,” said Nathan McCauley, CEO and Co-Founder of Anchorage Digital. He noted the partnership ensures these foundations are in place at launch.
Strategic Partnerships Ahead of Launch
This agreement follows Puffer's recent partnership with Google Cloud, which was announced a week prior. Google Cloud joined Puffer Preconf as a registered gateway, positioning Puffer UniFi as the first rollup to utilize the infrastructure.
Together, the collaborations with Google Cloud and Anchorage Digital establish a multi-layered stack for the network, combining enterprise-grade gateway infrastructure with institutional-grade digital asset services. "Our partnership with Anchorage Digital brings institutional infrastructure to Puffer UniFi from day one," stated Amir Forouzani, Co-Founder of Puffer Finance.
