Solmate Taps Bitcoin Depot Veteran Scott Buchanan as New CFO

Summary
Solmate Infrastructure has appointed former Bitcoin Depot CEO Scott Buchanan as its new Chief Financial Officer, leveraging his experience in scaling public digital asset companies. The move comes as the value of Solmate's Solana holdings has increased by approximately 70% since late July.
Solmate Infrastructure PLC (SLMT) has appointed Scott Buchanan as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective October 1, 2026, the company announced in a press release. Buchanan brings extensive experience from the publicly traded digital asset sector, having held several senior leadership positions at Bitcoin Depot (BTM).
A Track Record of Growth
Buchanan served at Bitcoin Depot from 2019, where his roles included CFO, COO, President, and ultimately CEO. During his tenure, he was instrumental in the company's significant expansion.
Key achievements at Bitcoin Depot attributed to Buchanan's leadership include:
- Growing annual revenue from approximately $5 million to $175 million.
- Leading a Nasdaq listing through an approximately $400 million SPAC merger.
- Sourcing more than $200 million in growth capital and over $50 million in acquisitions.
AdBuchanan is a Certified Public Accountant who began his career in assurance at KPMG. In his new role at Solmate, he will oversee financial reporting, capital markets, and treasury management.
Strategic Hire and Treasury Update
The appointment signals Solmate's focus on scaling its operations and managing its financial strategy as a public entity. "Scott has done what we need a CFO to do: scale a digital asset business, raise capital, and lead it as a Nasdaq-listed company," said Ron Sade, CEO of Solmate, in the announcement.
Solmate also provided an update on its digital asset holdings. As of September 29, 2026, the company's holdings of approximately 1.26 million SOL were valued at an estimated $149.6 million. This represents an increase of approximately 70% from their value of roughly $88 million on July 31, 2026. The company noted it has not sold any of its SOL holdings. These figures are unaudited, point-in-time estimates based on market prices and may differ from official financial statements.
