PE Firms Reportedly Weighing Fresh Bids for Evergrande Property Services Unit

Summary
A group of private equity firms, including PAG and Warburg Pincus, are reportedly considering new offers for Evergrande Property Services after a previous deal with a state-backed buyer collapsed. The move represents a new attempt by liquidators to sell assets from the defaulted Chinese developer.
A consortium of private equity firms is reportedly weighing fresh bids for Evergrande Property Services Group, the Hong Kong-listed property management arm of the liquidated developer China Evergrande Group. The renewed interest comes after a previous attempt to sell a controlling stake fell through earlier this year.
Renewed Buyer Interest
According to a Bloomberg report citing people familiar with the matter, the firms preparing potential offers include PAG, Warburg Pincus, and Trustar Capital. These firms are re-engaging with the sale process after liquidators for China Evergrande failed to secure a deal.
The sources, who asked not to be identified, stressed that the deliberations are ongoing and may not ultimately result in a formal offer, underscoring the preliminary nature of the discussions.
Context of the Sale
AdThe potential sale was revived after exclusive talks with a state-backed entity, Guangdong Provincial Tourism Holdings, collapsed. Evergrande Property Services confirmed in June that it was once again seeking a buyer following the failure of those negotiations.
The sale of the property management unit is a key part of the complex liquidation process of its parent company, China Evergrande Group, which defaulted on its debt and has become a symbol of China's broader property sector crisis. The proceeds from asset sales are intended to repay international creditors.
Financial Snapshot
Evergrande Property Services shares have gained approximately 2% this year in Hong Kong trading, giving the company a market valuation of about $1.6 billion. For the first half of the year, the company reported revenue of 6.9 billion yuan and a net income of 517 million yuan.
