Nexteq Swings to Loss as H1 Revenue Falls 34% on Gaming Sector Weakness

Nexteq, a UK-based technology solutions provider, reported a 34% year-over-year decline in revenue for the first half of 2026, which fell to $26.70 million. The company swung to a loss for the period, attributing the sharp downturn to persistent weakness in the land-based gaming market.
Financial Performance Breakdown
The company's financial results for the first six months of the year reflected significant pressure on both its top line and profitability. Nexteq posted an adjusted pretax loss of $4 million and an adjusted loss per share of $0.08.
Key financial highlights from the report include:
- Revenue: $26.70 million, a 34% decrease from the prior year.
- Adjusted Loss Per Share: $0.08.
- Reported Loss Per Share: $0.09.
- Gross Margin: Narrowed to 30.30%.
According to the company, the margin compression was driven by a combination of higher component costs, increased tariffs, and the annualization of Everi's consolidation. Reduced order volumes from major gaming customers were the primary factor behind the revenue and margin decline.
Gaming Headwinds and Outlook
AdNexteq stated that it anticipates challenging market conditions in the land-based gaming sector will continue through the remainder of 2026 and into 2027. The weak demand from this key customer segment has been a major headwind for the company's performance.
Despite the difficult first half, Nexteq maintained its full-year 2026 trading guidance. The company's confidence is supported by an 83% order coverage at the end of August, providing some visibility into future revenue.
Corporate Response and Capital Management
In response to the market downturn, Nexteq implemented restructuring and cost-saving initiatives during the first half, which are expected to generate $1.3 million in annual overhead savings. The company also continued its capital return program, buying back $5.7 million in shares.
Looking ahead, Nexteq expects its cash balance to improve in the second half of the year. This improvement is anticipated to be aided by the unwinding of a mortgage in Taiwan and a property sale.
