Meta Stock Jumps 7% as Analysts Applaud 'Muse' AI Agent Launch

Meta Platforms (META) shares jumped roughly 7% in Wednesday trading as Wall Street analysts responded with broad optimism to the company's unveiling of "Muse," a new standalone personal AI agent.
The positive reception frames the new product as a tangible result of Meta's massive capital expenditures in artificial intelligence, a return on investment that analysts and shareholders have been seeking.
A New Product Cycle
Equity analysts widely view the Muse launch as the start of a significant new product cycle that has not been fully priced into Meta's stock. Many noted that investors have been eager to see a concrete product emerge from the company's heavy infrastructure spending.
According to Mizuho Securities analyst Lloyd Walmsley, Muse represents “a significant step in that direction.” Analysts at KeyBanc echoed this sentiment, maintaining a $780 price target and arguing that the market continues to "under-estimate Meta’s AI positioning and product cycle."
Strategic Advantages and Market Potential
AdAnalysts highlighted Meta's structural advantages in what Morgan Stanley estimates to be a $30 trillion total addressable market (TAM) for consumer AI agent tasks, including e-commerce, travel, and logistics. According to Morgan Stanley’s Brian Nowak, success in this area requires two key components that Meta already possesses: broad distribution and rich consumer data sets across its Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp platforms.
Combined with a free entry price for consumers and privacy features like the dedicated Muse Secure VM, analysts believe Meta has a distinct advantage over other standalone AI startups in acquiring users.
Investor Caution and Competitive Landscape
Despite the bullish outlook, analysts caution that the market will wait for clear evidence of success before fully re-rating the stock. Citing past initiatives like Facebook Shopping and the Metaverse that fell short of high expectations, investors will be looking for hard data on user adoption and engagement before pricing in long-term upside.
The launch also poses a significant competitive threat to Alphabet (GOOGL). Morgan Stanley noted that a successful rollout for Muse "could pose a new potential threat to the position of search." By capturing consumer intent for shopping, travel, and scheduling at the top of the funnel, Muse could siphon valuable activity away from traditional search engines, increasing pressure on Google's own Gemini AI pipeline.
