Meta Expands Muse AI Agent to Small Businesses, Integrating with Shopify, QuickBooks

Summary
Meta Platforms is launching a version of its Muse AI agent for the small business market, integrating with popular tools like Shopify and Stripe in a bid to help owners manage operations and diversify its own revenue streams.
Meta Platforms (META) is expanding its recently launched AI agent, Muse, into the small business sector, a strategic move aimed at diversifying its revenue beyond advertising. The new version will integrate with a suite of popular business applications to help entrepreneurs manage operations and acquire customers, according to a company announcement on Tuesday.
Key Integrations and Capabilities
Muse for Small Business is designed to connect with dozens of third-party tools, allowing it to work with a company's core operational data. Meta said the agent can access a business's brand assets, storefront, financial records, and customer information.
Key integrations include:
- E-commerce platform Shopify
- Accounting software QuickBooks
- Payment processor Stripe
- Design tool Canva
- Productivity software like Asana, Box, Dropbox, Notion, Slack, and Zoom
The agent will also link with Meta's own ecosystem, including Instagram professional account analytics, Facebook Pages, and Meta ad accounts.
AdBusiness Model and Market Context
Meta will offer the service on a freemium model, with most uses available for free and paid subscription plans for users seeking additional features. This expansion follows the successful launch of the consumer version of Muse earlier this month, which is a personal AI assistant for tasks like shopping and travel booking.
The consumer app has demonstrated strong initial market traction. According to market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, Muse recorded approximately 2.8 million downloads in its first two weeks, topping free-app charts in the U.S. and Canada.
User Control Safeguards
Addressing potential concerns about automation, Meta emphasized that the AI agent is designed to operate with human oversight. The company stated that Muse will not publish content, send messages, or make purchases on behalf of a business without explicit user approval.
