Intuit Stock Down Nearly 50% YTD as Analysts Question Market Bottom

Intuit shares have fallen nearly 50% year-to-date, and despite a recent rebound, technical indicators and analyst commentary suggest a definitive market bottom has not yet been established for the financial software company. Investor focus is now turning to an upcoming Investor Day for signs that the company's growth outlook has troughed.
Technical Picture Remains Weak
Despite a 16.20% rally over the past three months, technical signals for Intuit (NASDAQ: INTU) remain in a clear downtrend, according to an analysis by Investing.com. Momentum indicators such as the Relative Strength Index (RSI) are weak across daily, weekly, and monthly timeframes, suggesting sellers still control the broader trend.
Key technical levels cited in the analysis include weekly support around $319.95. A sustained move above the weekly pivot point near $342.86 would be required to strengthen the case for a durable bottom.
Strong Earnings Met With Skepticism
Intuit's most recent earnings report on August 25, 2026, exceeded market expectations. The company posted earnings per share of $4.03 on revenue of $4.40 billion, beating consensus estimates of $3.54 and $4.28 billion, respectively.
However, the market reacted negatively, with shares falling 6.5% after the release, indicating that investors are more focused on future guidance than past performance. This concern is reflected in analyst revisions, as consensus EPS estimates fell 32.36% in the 30 days following the report, signaling worries about future profitability.
AdValuation vs. Structural Risks
After the steep sell-off, Intuit's valuation has become more compressed. According to data from FinQL cited by Investing.com, key metrics now appear more attractive:
- Forward Price-to-Earnings (P/E) ratio: 14.1x
- Free Cash Flow (FCF) Yield: 10.1%
Still, Bank of America analysts noted in a recent report that "despite shares down -49% YTD, investor interest remains low even as valuation appears attractive." They view the company's upcoming Investor Day as a key opportunity for management to prove its growth prospects have stabilized.
Concerns weighing on the stock include the risk of structural disruption from AI-native competitors and a weaker outlook for its core TurboTax product. The company's next tentative earnings release is scheduled for December 1, 2026.
