Curis Shares Surge on Promising Emavusertib Cancer Trial Results

Summary
Shares of the biotechnology company rose sharply after it reported a high response rate for its drug candidate emavusertib in a lymphoma trial and increased enrollment guidance for a leukemia study.
Curis, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRIS) shares jumped as much as 11% on Wednesday following the company's announcement of positive updated clinical data for its cancer drug candidate, emavusertib. The biotechnology firm also raised its enrollment guidance for a separate study involving the same drug.
TakeAim Lymphoma Study Shows High Response
The primary catalyst for the stock's move was new data from its TakeAim Lymphoma study, which is evaluating emavusertib in patients with Primary CNS Lymphoma (PCNSL). The company reported an 86% overall response rate in the seven patients who had not previously been treated with a BTK inhibitor (BTKi-naïve).
Key results from the study as of July 1, 2026, include:
- Overall Response Rate (ORR): 86% in 7 BTKi-naïve patients.
- Overall Response Rate (ORR): 26% in 39 BTKi-experienced patients.
AdEmavusertib, an oral IRAK4 and FLT3 inhibitor, is being tested in combination with the BTK inhibitor ibrutinib in this trial. Curis noted that following meetings with the FDA and EMA in 2025, the ongoing study could potentially support an application for accelerated approval in this patient population.
CLL Study Guidance Raised
Curis also provided an optimistic update on its TakeAim CLL study, which is assessing emavusertib in combination with zanubrutinib for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). The company has increased its guidance for the number of patients it expects to have data for by the end of the year.
The company now anticipates having data from 5 to 10 patients by December 2026, an increase from its previous forecast of 5 patients. According to the announcement, 10 patients have been consented for the study, with the first five expected to be dosed by the end of July.
