Chubb Posts Record $8.6 Billion Operating Income on Strong Underwriting Results

Chubb Ltd. (NYSE:CB) reported a record core operating income of $8.60 billion for the first nine months of the year, marking a 21% increase compared to the same period a year prior. The global property and casualty insurer's strong performance was fueled by significant gains in both its underwriting and investment activities, according to financial data reported by Investing.com.
Underwriting and Investment Strength
The company's property and casualty (P&C) operations delivered nearly $2.1 billion in quarterly underwriting income. A key indicator of profitability, Chubb's combined ratio stood at 84.1%; a ratio below 100% indicates that the company is collecting more in premiums than it is paying out in claims and expenses.
Chubb also posted a record adjusted net investment income of $1.89 billion. This result was supported by a portfolio yield of 5.2% and a new money rate of 6.2%, reflecting the benefit of the higher interest rate environment on the company's investment portfolio.
AdCapital Returns and Stock Performance
Alongside its strong earnings, Chubb highlighted its commitment to shareholder returns. The company has a fresh $7.5 billion share repurchase program in place and has a history of 33 consecutive years of dividend increases.
The company's stock has reflected this operational momentum, gaining 7.5% over the last month and trading near its 52-week high, as per the report. Despite the gains, the article noted the stock trades at approximately 12 times earnings with a price/earnings-to-growth (PEG) ratio of 0.3. A proprietary valuation model cited by Investing.com calculated a fair value estimate of $583.77 for the stock, suggesting a potential upside of 63.9% from its recent trading price.
