Bloom Energy Stock Slides on Analyst Warning Over Major Project Delays
Text size
Background

Shares of Bloom Energy Corp. (BE) fell more than 7% on Monday after a new analyst note warned that major delays in two of the company's most important projects could pose a significant risk to future revenue. The sell-off underscores growing investor anxiety surrounding the company's ability to execute on its AI-driven growth narrative.

Analyst Flags Execution Risk

In a note published Monday, TD Cowen reiterated its Hold rating and $235 price target on Bloom Energy, citing a view that the stock is fully valued. The firm's analysis highlighted execution risks tied to potential delays in two critical data center contracts:

  • Oracle’s Project Jupiter
  • The AEP data center agreement

According to TD Cowen, these delays could present a "meaningful risk" to the company's revenue estimates for 2027 and 2028. The warning overshadowed the firm's acknowledgment of positive near-term developments, including potential new orders in Texas and Spain.

The analyst report lands in an already cautious market for Bloom Energy stock. Shares have fallen roughly 39% from an all-time high set in late June. Investor confidence was previously shaken by a short-seller report from Hunterbrook Media earlier in the month, which raised concerns about the company's supply-chain exposure and accounting practices.

Adding to the pressure, BMO Capital initiated coverage with a Hold rating on July 17. The source also noted separate reports that Oracle’s Project Jupiter air permit faced a second regulatory rejection in New Mexico, compounding concerns about project timelines. Bloom's stock decline occurred even as the broader S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite indices posted modest gains, indicating the sell-off was company-specific.

Investor Outlook

With a high price-to-book ratio of over 66x, investors appear increasingly unwilling to hold the stock without clearer evidence of on-time project delivery. The combination of valuation concerns, project-level uncertainty, and lingering questions from short-sellers has created a difficult environment for the company.

Market participants will be looking for clarity on project execution and demand when Bloom Energy reports its second-quarter 2026 earnings, scheduled for July 28.
