Arlo Technologies Stock Gains on $100 Million Share Buyback Plan

Arlo Technologies (NYSE: ARLO) stock gained 4.3% in pre-open trading after the company announced its Board of Directors has approved a new stock repurchase program. The authorization allows for the buyback of up to $100 million of the company's common stock.
Details of the Repurchase Program
The newly authorized program is effective through December 31, 2028. According to the announcement, Arlo plans to execute the buybacks through open-market purchases, which will be conducted in a manner that management deems to be in the best interests of the company and its stockholders.
Share buybacks can provide support for a stock's price and potentially boost earnings per share (EPS) by reducing the total number of outstanding shares.
Management Signals Confidence
AdCEO Matthew McRae stated the move reflects the board's view that the company's shares are undervalued. "The authorization of a new stock repurchase program of this magnitude reflects our board and management’s belief that our shares are undervalued relative to the company’s long-term value," McRae said.
This announcement comes as the company has shown recent operational strength. Arlo reported second-quarter revenue of $155.9 million, a 20.5% increase year-over-year, and also raised its guidance for the following quarter. The stock had been trading near its 52-week low of $11.05 prior to the news, reinforcing the undervaluation argument cited by management.
Market Context
The rally in Arlo's stock appeared to be a company-specific event, outperforming the broader market. During the pre-market session, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq were up modestly, by 0.3% and 0.4% respectively, with no major macroeconomic data releases driving the session. The combination of a significant capital return plan and strong public confidence from leadership served as the primary catalyst for the stock's move.
