ADARx Pharmaceuticals Targets $1.74 Billion Valuation in US IPO

Summary
The RNA drug developer aims to raise up to $371.9 million in its public market debut, which includes a concurrent private placement from pharmaceutical giant AbbVie.
ADARx Pharmaceuticals, a company developing RNA-based therapies, is seeking a valuation of up to $1.74 billion in its U.S. initial public offering, according to a company filing on Monday. The clinical-stage biotechnology firm aims to raise as much as $371.9 million to advance its drug pipeline.
Offering Details
ADARx plans to offer 21.9 million shares at a price range of $15 to $17 per share. The company intends to list on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker symbol "ADRX."
In a significant vote of confidence, pharmaceutical major AbbVie has agreed to purchase up to $100 million in shares in a concurrent private placement. This investment would give AbbVie an approximate 4.9% stake in ADARx after the IPO, the company stated.
Pipeline and Use of Proceeds
AdBased in San Diego, ADARx specializes in experimental RNA drugs for rare immune, kidney, cardiovascular, and neurological diseases. The company currently has three programs in clinical testing and two in advanced preclinical development.
Proceeds from the offering are earmarked to fund late-stage trials for its most advanced candidate, onvuzosiran, which targets hereditary angioedema, a rare genetic disorder. The capital will also be used for further research and development across its broader pipeline.
Market Context
The move by ADARx highlights continued investor interest in the biotech sector, which has remained an active area for IPOs despite higher interest rates and Treasury yields that have deterred listings in other industries. The offering is being underwritten by a syndicate of banks including J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, TD Cowen, UBS Investment Bank, and LifeSci Capital.
