Background

Shares of ZAI Co Ltd surged on Thursday, rebounding from a recent sell-off after Chinese media reported the artificial intelligence firm significantly raised its revenue forecast for the year.

The company's stock closed up 3.5% at HK$745.5 in Hong Kong, outperforming the broader Hang Seng index, which fell 0.9% during the session.

Upgraded Outlook Drives Rebound

The rally was reportedly triggered by a *South China Morning Post* article stating that ZAI had increased its year-end annual recurring revenue (ARR) outlook by 25% to $3 billion. ARR is a critical performance metric for subscription-based businesses, gauging predictable income over a 12-month period.

According to the report, ZAI's ARR has already reached $1.8 billion so far in 2026. The company indicated that a recent capital raise was instrumental in clearing major bottlenecks in its computing capacity, enabling the improved forecast.

Context of the Capital Raise

The positive news follows a period of weakness for the stock, which had declined earlier in the week due to a new share offering. The company completed a placement of approximately 21.965 million new H-shares under a general mandate to raise fresh capital.

With the share placement now fully absorbed by the market, some investors appear to be viewing the prior pullback as a buying opportunity. The new funds are expected to support further investment in AI model development and infrastructure for the Beijing-based firm, formerly known as Knowledge Atlas Technology Joint Stock Company Limited.
