Background

Tailored Brands, the parent company of menswear retailers Men’s Wearhouse and Jos. A. Bank, has publicly filed for an initial public offering in the U.S., marking a significant step in its recovery from its 2020 bankruptcy. The regulatory filing revealed the company generated higher revenue in its most recent quarter, though net profit declined.

Financial Performance

According to the filing, the Houston-based retailer reported revenue of $681.8 million for the three months ended May 2, an increase from $644.4 million in the same period a year earlier. However, net profit for the quarter was $44.9 million, down from $50.7 million year-over-year.

The company had initially filed for its IPO confidentially in April. The number of shares to be offered and the proposed price range for the listing have not yet been determined.

Post-Bankruptcy Turnaround

Tailored Brands, which operates over 1,000 stores in North America, filed for bankruptcy protection in 2020 after being severely impacted by the coronavirus crisis. The company has since restructured and stabilized its operations.

The move comes amid a more favorable environment for U.S. IPOs, supported by stronger equity markets and renewed investor demand, particularly in the consumer sector. The company plans to list its shares on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "MENW".
