Background

Symrise AG (SY1G) on Wednesday reported third-quarter sales that exceeded analyst forecasts, propelled by strong volume growth across its key segments. The German supplier of fragrances and flavors posted quarterly sales of €1,310 million, ahead of the €1,283 million consensus estimate.

Volume Gains Drive Top-Line Beat

The company achieved organic sales growth of 5.3% for the quarter. This performance was primarily driven by a 6.1% increase in sales volumes, which more than compensated for a slight price decline of 0.8%, according to the report. The results suggest resilient underlying demand for Symrise's products.

Both of the company's major divisions contributed to the expansion:

  • The Scent & Care segment grew 5.6% organically.
  • The Taste, Nutrition & Health segment saw a 5.2% organic increase.

Within its business units, Symrise highlighted high-single-digit organic growth in aroma molecules, which included double-digit growth for menthol. Pet food posted mid-single-digit growth, while fine fragrance recorded low-single-digit organic growth.

Regional Performance and Full-Year Outlook

Regionally, the Asia/Pacific market led the expansion with 12.1% organic growth on sales of €285 million. This was followed by Latin America, which grew 7.4% to €188 million. North America and the EAME (Europe, Africa, Middle East) region posted more moderate organic growth of 4.8% and 1.7%, respectively.

Symrise maintained its full-year 2026 guidance, forecasting organic growth between 2% and 4% and stating it expects to land near the midpoint of this range. However, the company anticipates its adjusted EBITDA margin will be in the lower half of its projected 21.5% to 22.5% range, citing planned investments in IT, innovation, and personnel. Management also noted that fourth-quarter growth is expected to slow sequentially due to more difficult year-over-year comparisons.
