SpaceX Postpones 13th Starship Test Flight to Friday Due to Weather

SpaceX has pushed the 13th test flight of its Starship launch system to Friday, July 24, citing unfavorable weather conditions at its Starbase facility in Texas. The mission, a critical step in the development of the fully reusable rocket, was originally scheduled for Thursday.
Launch Rescheduled for Clearer Imagery
The company announced the delay in a post on the social media platform X, stating the new target is Friday, July 24. The decision was driven by a specific mission requirement for clear visibility.
According to SpaceX, a primary goal of the test is to capture high-quality ground imagery of Starship's heatshield as it experiences high dynamic pressure during ascent. The company explained that Thursday's weather would have prevented this, while the forecast for Friday is expected to be ideal for data collection.
AdContext for the Test Campaign
This flight is the latest in a series of tests for the Starship system, which is designed for future missions to the Moon and Mars, as well as for commercial satellite deployment. The program's progress is closely watched by investors in the broader aerospace and satellite industries.
The previous test flight in May saw a successful recovery of the Super Heavy booster, though the upper-stage spacecraft encountered a loss of attitude control during re-entry. Following a review of that mission, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted clearance for this 13th flight to proceed. SpaceX has noted that the latest vehicle includes upgrades aimed at improving overall system reliability as it works toward achieving full and frequent reusability.
