Samsara Beats Q2 Estimates and Raises Outlook, But Growth Pressures Cash Flow

Samsara Inc. (IOT) reported second-quarter financial results that surpassed analyst expectations and raised its full-year revenue forecast, signaling sustained demand for its industrial data platform. The positive report, released September 3, 2026, sent the company's shares up over 4% in trading on September 4.
Strong Q2 Performance and Upbeat Guidance
The company demonstrated robust growth, confirming its ability to expand in a complex economic environment. Key figures from Samsara's Q2 fiscal 2027 report include:
- Revenue: $508.4 million, beating the consensus estimate of $483.27 million and representing a 30% year-over-year increase.
- Adjusted EPS: $0.20, ahead of the $0.16 expected by analysts.
- Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR): Reached $2.1 billion, also up 30% year over year.
- Non-GAAP Operating Margin: Expanded to 21%, a six-percentage-point improvement from the prior year.
Buoyed by the strong quarter, Samsara raised its full-year revenue guidance to a range of $2.043 billion to $2.047 billion. For the upcoming third quarter, the company projects revenue between $514 million and $516 million.
Enterprise Demand Fuels Growth
AdA significant driver of the quarter's success was strong momentum with large enterprise clients. Samsara reported adding a record 242 customers with ARR over $100,000, bringing the total to 3,605, a 38% increase year over year. The company also added 20 customers with ARR exceeding $1 million.
This deepening penetration into the enterprise market underscores the value of its platform for large-scale operations. According to the company, its largest customers now account for 63% of its total ARR, up from 59% in the same quarter a year ago.
Focus Shifts to Cash Conversion
While the report answered questions about growth durability, it raised new ones about the efficiency of that growth. The rapid expansion has increased the need for upfront investment in hardware, inventory, and supply chain logistics, putting pressure on free cash flow.
The company's free cash flow margin for the quarter was 13%. Some analysts noted that projected hardware investments could cause the full-year free cash flow margin for fiscal 2027 to dip slightly below the previous year's level. Investors will be closely watching for evidence that management can normalize its supply chain and improve cash conversion as it continues to scale.
