MyEtherWallet Integrates Ondo Perps to Offer Leveraged Trading on Tokenized Stocks and ETFs

MyEtherWallet (MEW), a prominent non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet, has integrated Ondo Perps to offer its users access to leveraged trading on tokenized traditional financial assets. The move allows eligible clients to trade perpetual futures contracts on U.S. stocks, ETFs, and commodities around the clock, directly from the MEW web interface.
Integration Details
According to a company announcement, the integration enables users to trade continuous perpetual contracts with up to 20x leverage. This allows traders to take long or short positions on major traditional market assets while maintaining full self-custody of their funds, a core principle of decentralized finance (DeFi).
The service aims to bridge the gap between traditional financial markets and Web3 technology. Unlike conventional brokerages that operate on fixed exchange schedules, this offering provides uninterrupted access to markets for users outside of restricted jurisdictions.
Market Implications
This development further blurs the lines between traditional finance (TradFi) and the crypto ecosystem. Perpetual futures, or "perps," are derivative contracts without an expiration date, a popular instrument in digital asset markets. By applying this structure to tokenized versions of stocks and ETFs, the platform offers advanced trading tools typically confined to specialized exchanges.
For investors, this provides a new venue to manage exposure to global markets without being limited by geography or time zones. The self-custodial nature means traders retain control over their private keys, a key distinction from centralized trading platforms.
AdKey Features and Restrictions
The company highlighted several key features of the new offering:
- 24/7 Trading: Uninterrupted liquidity for U.S. equities, ETFs, and commodities outside of traditional market hours.
- High Leverage: The ability to employ strategies with up to 20x leverage.
- Wallet Compatibility: Users can trade via any wallet connected to MEW Portfolio, including MEW's mobile app, browser extensions like MetaMask, and hardware wallets.
- Self-Custody: Traders maintain full control over their assets while accessing derivative products.
Crucially, the announcement specifies that the product is not available nor intended for U.S. citizens, and other restrictions apply.
"Our mission has always been to make decentralized finance accessible, flexible, and fully self-custodial," said MEW Founder and CEO Kosala Hemachandra in the statement. "Whether investors want to buy and hold tokenized equities or manage risk with up to 20x leverage on stocks and commodities, they can now execute advanced trading strategies 24/7 without surrendering control of their assets."
