Moneysupermarket.com H1 Revenue Falls 32% on Search Business Transition

Moneysupermarket.com Group (LSE:MONY) reported a 32% year-over-year decline in revenue for the first half of 2026, a drop primarily driven by a strategic overhaul of its Search business segment. Despite the top-line contraction, the company achieved its first half-year operating profit since 2024.
H1 Performance Breakdown
According to its half-year results, the group's net revenue fell 16% year-over-year, while adjusted EBITDA decreased by 21%. This resulted in a net loss of $6 million for the period, or a loss per basic share of $0.02.
Despite the net loss, the company highlighted a return to operating profitability, posting an EBIT of $3 million. This marks the first time Moneysupermarket.com has recorded an operating profit in a first-half period since H1 2024.
Search Segment Overhaul Drives Decline
The significant revenue drop was largely attributed to the company's Search segment, where both revenue and profitability fell sharply. The company stated this was a result of a planned transition away from its AdSense for Domains model to an RSOC model.
AdHowever, the company noted a positive development within the segment, reporting that it had returned to profitability in the month of June, signaling a potential stabilization ahead of the second half.
Brighter Outlook and Segment Growth
Performance in other divisions provided a counterbalance to the Search segment's results. The DIS segment saw improvement, with an increase in net revenue and expanded margins as the company focused on higher-margin business. The Comparison segment also delivered revenue and margin growth, supported by new conversion funnels and international expansion.
Looking ahead, Moneysupermarket.com's board projects a stronger performance in the second half of 2026. The company anticipates a return to year-over-year earnings growth in H2 and expects the Search segment to be profitable for the full second half. Net debt is also projected to decrease significantly by the end of the year.
