MannKind Shares Rise on FDA Approval for Heart Failure Drug, Secures $50 Million Financing

Summary
MannKind Corporation (NASDAQ:MNKD) stock gained after the company announced U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for its Furoscix ReadyFlow autoinjector and a concurrent $50 million private placement.
MannKind Corporation (NASDAQ:MNKD) shares rose 6% in Friday morning trading following the company's announcement that it received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its new heart failure treatment, Furoscix ReadyFlow, and secured a $50 million financing deal.
FDA Greenlights At-Home Edema Treatment
The FDA approved Furoscix ReadyFlow, a furosemide injection, for treating edema, or fluid overload, in adult patients with heart failure or chronic kidney disease. The product is a single-use autoinjector designed for subcutaneous self-administration outside of a hospital setting, according to the company's statement.
MannKind highlighted that the device delivers an 80 mg/mL dose in under 10 seconds, a significant reduction from the five-hour administration time of the currently available On-body infusor. Clinical data showed the therapy achieved IV-equivalent exposure and was generally well-tolerated. The company expects to make Furoscix ReadyFlow commercially available in the U.S. by the end of August.
AdStrategic Financing Secured
Concurrent with the approval, MannKind entered into a securities purchase agreement for a $50 million private placement with institutional investors, led by Frazier Life Sciences. The placement includes the sale of 10,440,838 shares of common stock at $3.89 per share and pre-funded warrants for an additional 2,412,632 shares.
MannKind stated that the net proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes. This includes funding a $45 million contingent value rights (CVR) payment that was triggered by the FDA's approval of Furoscix ReadyFlow, directly linking the financing to the regulatory milestone.
