Lockheed Martin Secures Over $1.3 Billion in US Defense Contracts

Summary
The defense contractor was awarded three contracts by the U.S. Department of War for missile development, system recapitalization, and production support, with the largest award valued at $1.21 billion.
Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT) has been awarded three separate defense contracts with a total value exceeding $1.3 billion, according to a Monday announcement from the U.S. Department of War. The agreements cover the development of next-generation missile systems, upgrades to existing rocket launchers, and expanded production capabilities.
Contract Details
The awards consist of one major contract and two smaller agreements for different missile and fire control programs. The largest portion of the funding is allocated to a long-term development project.
- Precision Strike Missile (PrSM): The most significant award is a $1.21 billion indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for the Precision Strike Missile Increment 2 Early Operational Capability. This cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price agreement, managed by the Army Contracting Command, is expected to be completed by Sept. 13, 2031.
- Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS): The company's Grand Prairie, Texas, facility received a $97.64 million contract for the recapitalization of the MLRS. Work is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 4, 2031, with fiscal 2025 Army funds obligated at the time of the award.
- JASSM/LRASM Production: A $13.17 million modification was awarded to an existing contract for tooling and test equipment related to the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) and Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) programs. This modification, which includes Foreign Military Sales to an undisclosed nation, brings the total contract value to $476.12 million and is set for completion by Nov. 29, 2028.
AdImplications for Investors
These contracts reinforce Lockheed Martin's position as a prime contractor for the U.S. military's advanced munitions and precision strike capabilities. The long-term nature of the agreements, with completion dates extending to 2031, adds to the company's revenue backlog, providing investors with visibility into future earnings.
The PrSM contract is particularly noteworthy as it represents a key modernization priority for the U.S. Army. The inclusion of Foreign Military Sales in the JASSM/LRASM modification also highlights sustained international demand for the company's advanced weapons systems, a significant driver of growth in the defense sector.
