IQE Shares Surge After Upgrading Revenue Forecast on AI Demand

Shares in IQE PLC surged on Tuesday after the compound semiconductor manufacturer significantly raised its full-year revenue forecast, citing accelerating demand from the artificial intelligence and wireless sectors.
Upgraded Guidance Fuels Rally
In a mid-year trading update, the AIM-listed company announced it now expects full-year 2026 revenue growth to be above 30% year-over-year. This marks a substantial increase from its previous guidance of growth exceeding 20%, signaling stronger-than-anticipated business momentum.
Key figures from the update include:
- First-half 2026 revenue: Forecast to be at least £64 million, a figure that materially exceeded market expectations.
- Full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA: Projected to be in the low-teens of millions of pounds, a significant step toward profitability.
AI and Wireless Demand Drive Growth
AdIQE attributed the strong performance to broad-based strength across its core business segments. The company's Photonics division is benefiting directly from the rapid buildout of AI compute infrastructure and data center capacity.
Meanwhile, its Wireless segment continues to see growth from new handset platform wins and increased market penetration in Asia. The update confirmed that demand is accelerating across all of the company's main end markets.
Market Reaction and Context
Investors reacted positively to the bullish forecast, sending IQE's stock up 12.7% to trade at 40.7 pence. The rally was a standout performance, as the broader UK market was subdued and IQE decisively outperformed its AIM-listed peers.
The upgraded forecast lands in a receptive market environment for semiconductor companies exposed to the AI growth narrative. Despite the sharp increase, the stock remains well below its 52-week high of 72.8p, prompting investors to reassess its valuation amid the improving operational outlook.
