Illuminance Global Launches $1.5M On-Chain Credit Pool Amid Visa's Stablecoin Push

Illuminance Global, a participant in Visa's stablecoin platform, has launched an on-chain credit layer backed by a USD 1.5 million funding pool. The move signals a broader evolution in the digital asset space, where blockchain infrastructure is increasingly being used for complex financial services beyond simple payments and settlement.
New Credit Facility Details
Illuminance announced the creation of its new credit layer as part of its 'Digital Bank' roadmap. The initiative is composed of two main elements:
- A dedicated $1.5 million funding pool to back the credit operations.
- A 'Credit Leverage Strategy' that allows eligible participants to receive up to 50% in additional operating capacity.
The company stated that this credit structure is independently issued and administered by Illuminance Investment Inc. The development runs parallel to efforts by major financial players to bring traditional credit infrastructure onto blockchain networks.
Broader Shift to On-Chain Finance
AdThe launch comes as financial services giant Visa expands its own stablecoin strategy from settlement into on-chain credit. This industry-wide shift aims to support working capital needs in a continuously operating, digital financial ecosystem by combining traditional settlement data with blockchain-based lending.
According to Visa, the market for on-chain lending is already substantial. The company reported that its stablecoin settlement volume has surpassed a $20 billion annualized run rate, while over $694 billion in stablecoin-denominated loans have been processed through on-chain lending protocols since 2020.
Market Implications
Illuminance Global's initiative highlights the maturation of digital finance, where stablecoins are becoming a foundational layer for more sophisticated products like liquidity and credit. As a Beta Participant in the Visa Stablecoin Platform (VSP), Illuminance is positioned within this trend of integrating digital assets with established financial architecture.
The long-term objective, as outlined by the company, is an interconnected financial system where digital assets, settlement, and credit are unified components rather than separate products. This transition represents a move from using blockchain simply to move capital to using it to put capital to work more efficiently.
