Background

Human.tech has launched its Wallet Protocol on the Ika decentralized network, providing developers a new framework for building multi-chain applications and services for AI agents. The protocol, which went live today, aims to simplify user experience by abstracting blockchain complexities across disparate networks.

Protocol Details and Multi-Chain Support

The new protocol initially supports Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible chains, as well as the Sui and Solana networks, with plans for future expansion. According to the August 24 announcement, this allows developers to create a unified user account that can enforce security policies natively on every chain without bridging.

"This is the first chain-agnostic and decentralized wallet protocol that does not lock you into an enterprise landlord to rent your users’ keys from," said Dr. Shady El Damaty, CEO of human.tech's parent company, Holonym Foundation. He added that the architecture allows developers to "quietly push complexity to the back-end and focus on user experience."

A New Model for AI-Driven Finance

A key focus of the protocol is enabling secure "agentic payments," where AI agents can conduct transactions on a user's behalf. The system incorporates what the company calls "rigorous automation safeguards" to address risks unique to AI, including prompt injection and data leakage.

Omer Sadika, Co-Founder of Ika, emphasized the need for constrained permissions. "Software acting on someone’s behalf needs bounded permission, not an omnipotent private key," he said. The protocol provides developers with policy enforcement at the moment of signing, a feature human.tech refers to as "protected self-custody."

Challenging Incumbent Providers

The launch positions human.tech as a direct competitor to established wallet infrastructure providers such as Privy and Fireblocks. The company argues that its decentralized model, which it says is the first commercial application of 2PC-MPC threshold signing between an enclave and a decentralized network, offers greater assurances against vendor lock-in and service downtime.

In a direct challenge to the market, the standard human.tech Wallet Protocol is being offered for free at any volume, and the company is providing migration tools for developers on existing platforms. The protocol's Wallet-as-a-Service (WaaP) SDK and CLI are now available on npm for integration.
