Background
Honda Motor America has issued a recall for 325,588 Odyssey minivans in the United States, according to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recall impacts certain vehicles from the 2018 through 2020 model years.
The safety issue stems from the potential for water to enter the rearview camera assembly. This can lead to a failure of the rearview image to display on the screen when the vehicle is put in reverse.
The NHTSA report states that the absence of the rearview image can increase the risk of a crash while the vehicle is backing up. To resolve the issue, Honda dealers will replace the rearview camera on affected vehicles free of charge.
