German DAX Slumps 1.77% as Technology Sector Sell-Off Hits Frankfurt

German equities ended Thursday's trading session sharply lower, with the benchmark DAX index falling 1.77% as a sell-off in the technology sector weighed on market sentiment. The decline was broad-based, impacting other key German indices and reflecting negative investor sentiment.
Market Close in Frankfurt
At the close of trading, the DAX finished at its session lows. The mid-cap MDAX index also retreated, declining 1.18%, while the technology-focused TecDAX index saw the steepest losses, plunging 2.53% for the day, according to market data from Investing.com.
Market breadth was decidedly negative on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, where falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by a margin of 477 to 183. Investor uncertainty appeared to rise, as reflected by a 1.48% increase in the DAX volatility index to 17.50.
Sector and Stock Movers
The downturn was led by significant weakness in the Technology, Telecoms, and Software sectors. Among the DAX's biggest decliners were:
Ad- Infineon Technologies AG (ETR:IFXGn): Fell 6.17%
- Commerzbank AG (ETR:CBKG): Dropped 5.44%
- Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG): Lost 4.08%
