Figure Technology Named Top Fintech Pick by Needham on Strong Loan Volume

Needham analysts have named Figure Technology Solutions (FIGR) their top investment idea in the financial technology sector, reaffirming their conviction after the company posted exceptionally strong operating results for June. The investment firm maintained its Buy rating and $55 price target on the company's stock, which remains on Needham’s Conviction List.
Performance Outpaces Expectations
The endorsement follows the release of Figure's June operating metrics, which significantly exceeded analyst forecasts. The company's consumer loan marketplace volume grew to $1.519 billion, a 155% increase year-over-year and well above Needham's estimate of $1.357 billion.
For the full second quarter, Figure's total marketplace volume reached $4.259 billion. This figure surpassed the high end of the company’s own guidance range of $3.4 billion to $4.1 billion. Needham attributed the robust performance to favorable market conditions for home equity lines of credit (HELOCs), the solid performance of underlying assets, and strong corporate execution.
Upgraded Forecasts and Growth Catalysts
AdIn response to the strong results, Needham raised its financial estimates for Figure Technology. The firm now projects earnings per share of $0.90 for 2026 and $1.15 for 2027, up from previous forecasts of $0.87 and $1.10, respectively. Revenue projections were also increased to $841.5 million for 2026 and $1.034 billion for 2027.
Analysts at the firm also highlighted several growth drivers beyond the core HELOC business, including emerging asset classes like auto loans and small business loans. The pending acquisition of Kiavi was noted as a key potential catalyst, which Needham expects to be "highly accretive" to 2027 earnings estimates.
Recent Capital Raise
In a separate development, Figure Technology recently priced a $600 million offering of 8.5% senior notes due 2031. The company stated that it plans to use the proceeds to fund the cash portion of its Kiavi acquisition and for general corporate purposes.
