Background

Celcuity (NASDAQ: CELC) shares rose 2.9% in pre-market trading after JPMorgan initiated coverage of the biotechnology company with an Overweight rating and a $157 price target.

JPMorgan's Bullish Outlook

In a note published early Tuesday, JPMorgan highlighted the long-term commercial potential of Celcuity's drug, Revtorpyk (gedatolisib). The bank's positive thesis centers on the drug's application for patients with second-line HR+/HER2- locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer who do not have a PIK3CA mutation.

JPMorgan anticipates a product launch in the third quarter of 2026. The bank also noted that its own revenue forecasts are more conservative than the current Wall Street consensus, a factor it believes is already reflected in the stock's valuation.

Analyst Consensus and Pipeline News

The initiation from JPMorgan adds to an existing bullish sentiment among analysts covering Celcuity. Other firms with Buy-equivalent ratings include:

  • Guggenheim ($175 price target)
  • Citizens JMP ($177 price target)
  • H.C. Wainwright ($155 price target)

This positive analyst coverage comes as Celcuity works to expand the drug's potential market. In late August 2026, the company submitted a supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) to the FDA. If approved, the sNDA would expand Revtorpyk’s label to include patients with the PIK3CA mutation, substantially increasing its addressable patient population.

Market Reaction

The combination of the new analyst coverage and a supportive market environment helped lift Celcuity's stock toward $85 from its previous close of $82.58. The broader market showed a strong risk-on sentiment, with the S&P 500, Dow Jones, and Nasdaq all trading higher, providing a tailwind for growth-oriented stocks in the healthcare sector.
