Campari Stock Surges on Simultaneous Upgrades from UBS, Morgan Stanley

Shares of Davide Campari Milano (CPRI) surged more than 5.4% on Tuesday, defying a sharp downturn in the broader Italian market after receiving a rare simultaneous double upgrade from analysts at UBS and Morgan Stanley.
Dual Upgrades Drive Rally
Before the market opened, both investment banks raised their recommendations on the spirits group, pointing to an attractive entry point following a prolonged period of underperformance. The coordinated endorsements provided a powerful catalyst for the stock.
- UBS upgraded Campari from a Neutral to a Buy rating, lifting its price target to €7.00 from €6.10. Analysts anticipate an acceleration in organic growth to over 4% in the second half of 2026 and a potential free cash flow inflection point in 2027.
- Morgan Stanley raised its rating from Equal Weight to Overweight, while maintaining a €6.50 price target. The bank highlighted Campari's superior prospects for revenue and earnings growth compared to peers and noted that its strategic turnaround is showing positive results.
Valuation Seen as Compelling
AdA common theme in both upgrades was the stock's valuation. Analysts at both firms argued that Campari's recent de-rating—a decline in its price-to-earnings multiple—has made its shares attractively priced. They believe this compressed valuation, combined with improving fundamentals and diminishing concerns over competitive pricing, presents a compelling investment case.
Defying a Bearish Market
Campari's rally was particularly notable given the negative market backdrop. The broader FTSE MIB index in Milan fell sharply, pressured by a sell-off in technology stocks and a surge in Brent crude oil prices above $107 per barrel amid rising geopolitical tensions.
The stock's ability to climb to the top of the FTSE MIB leaderboard, reaching a session high of €6.054, underscored the significant impact of the institutional endorsements. The strong investor response was powerful enough to override the negative macroeconomic sentiment.
