Background

Cryptocurrency exchange BTCC reported a significant expansion in its traditional finance offerings, with TradFi futures volume tripling to $2.7 billion in the second quarter of 2026. The growth, detailed in its latest quarterly report, comes as the exchange celebrates its 15th anniversary and surpasses a milestone of 12 million global users.

TradFi Volume Surge Drives Growth

The company attributed the growth to increased interest in trading traditional assets alongside cryptocurrencies on a single platform. The Q2 TradFi futures volume marked a substantial increase from the $950 million recorded in the first quarter of the year.

According to the report, two days of heightened market volatility drove record-breaking platform-wide activity:

  • April 14: A blockade of the Strait of Hormuz pushed oil prices above $105 per barrel, resulting in a daily futures volume record of $5.8 billion.
  • April 23: A surge in Bitcoin's price past $78,000 contributed to a daily trading volume of $5.7 billion.

Among the most traded instruments, Bitcoin (BTC) led with $125.8 billion in quarterly volume, while Gold (GOLD) was a prominent TradFi asset with $1.53 billion in volume.

Strategic Initiatives and User Growth

BTCC's user base reached 12 million by the end of the quarter, supported by strategic promotions and partnerships. A key initiative was the elimination of trading fees for all TradFi futures pairs and fee reductions of up to 25% on standard perpetual futures contracts.

A regional partnership with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) during the World Cup also boosted activity. The exchange reported that a promotion tied to the team's matches led to futures volume surges of up to 55% in the 24 hours preceding each game.

Market Positioning and Outlook

Founded in 2011, BTCC is positioning itself as one of the industry's longest-serving exchanges, using its 15-year history to underscore its experience through various market cycles. The company stated its strategy for the second half of 2026 is focused on "Zero Barrier Trading," aimed at reducing friction for users.

Looking ahead to the third quarter, BTCC plans to expand its product offerings further. The roadmap includes adding more TradFi instrument pairs, listing new pre-IPO assets, and integrating Apple Pay and Google Pay as deposit channels.
