Boring Company Raises $3 Billion at $23 Billion Valuation in UAE-Led Round

Elon Musk’s tunnel construction startup, The Boring Company, has raised $3 billion in a new funding round, bringing its post-money valuation to $23 billion. The company confirmed the financing, which was led by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in a statement released Tuesday.
UAE Leads Strategic Investment
The funding was led by the UAE and its affiliated investment entities, signaling a significant strategic partnership. According to the announcement, the round also saw participation from a syndicate of high-profile investors.
Key participants include:
- Human Capital
- Vy Capital
- Valor Equity Partners
- Sequoia Capital
- Andreessen Horowitz (a16z)
- Temasek
- Shamal Holding
- Baron Capital
Existing and new investors also contributed to the round, though they were not specified.
AdFunds Earmarked for Middle East and US Expansion
The company stated that the capital will primarily finance the large-scale deployment of underground transportation infrastructure in the UAE, including the construction of more than 150 kilometers (93 miles) of tunnels. This work will supplement the previously announced Dubai Loop project, a high-speed underground transport network developed under a preliminary agreement with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority.
Beyond the UAE, The Boring Company plans to use the proceeds to accelerate hiring in its engineering, production, and operations departments. The funds will also support the expansion of its existing Loop transit systems in Las Vegas, Nashville, and Dubai.
Valuation Jumps Fourfold Since 2022
This latest financing marks a substantial increase in the company's valuation. In 2022, The Boring Company was valued at approximately $5.7 billion after a funding round that raised $675 million. Founded by Musk in 2017 as a solution to urban traffic congestion, the firm's sharp rise in valuation reflects growing investor confidence in its underground transportation model.
