Background

Bitget Wallet has integrated the tokenized-asset protocol Reality, a move that provides users of the self-custodial crypto wallet with access to more than 1,700 tokenized U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The partnership reflects a growing trend of crypto platforms bridging the gap to traditional financial markets.

Expanded Access to Real-World Assets

The integration with Reality's protocol significantly expands Bitget Wallet's existing offerings of real-world assets (RWAs), which already included tokenized equities from providers like Ondo and xStocks. According to the company, this addition creates one of the broadest tokenized-equity lineups available through a self-custodial wallet.

The new assets, which are initially live on the Arbitrum and Morph blockchains, are available to Bitget Wallet's user base, which the company reports to be 100 million worldwide. The wallet provider noted that its RWA trading volume rose 27% in the second quarter from the previous three months, with key markets in Europe, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

Reality issues tokens, called rTokens, that are designed to track the price of more than 600 U.S. stocks and ETFs. The protocol ensures that each token is backed one-to-one by physical shares held at Alpaca Securities, a U.S. broker-dealer registered with FINRA and a member of SIPC.

To maintain transparency, the company states that a third-party accounting firm attests to the reserves on a daily basis. Key features for investors include:

  • Orders are routed to Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange liquidity during U.S. market hours.
  • Dividends are paid out in stablecoins directly to the holder's wallet.
  • Corporate actions, such as stock splits, are applied automatically to the tokens.
  • The rTokens can also be utilized as collateral within other decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.
