Bank of America Taps Goldman Sachs' Srijith Nair for Key Asia FIG Role

Summary
Bank of America has hired veteran Goldman Sachs banker Srijith Nair to lead its financial institutions investment banking for Asia ex-China, according to an internal memo. The appointment is aimed at strengthening the bank's franchise in the competitive Asia-Pacific market.
Bank of America has appointed Srijith Nair, a senior banker from Goldman Sachs, to a leadership position within its regional investment banking team, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters. The move signals the bank's intent to bolster its advisory services for financial firms across Asia.
The Appointment
Nair will join as head of Asia excluding China financial institutions group (FIG) investment banking and head of Asia-Pacific insurance investment banking. Based in Singapore, he will report to Michael Evans, Bank of America’s head of Asia-Pacific FIG investment banking, the memo stated.
The FIG division provides investment banking services to companies such as banks, insurance providers, and asset managers. Bank of America declined to comment on the appointment.
A Veteran Banker's Profile
Nair brings nearly 20 years of investment banking experience to the role. He joins from Goldman Sachs, where he was most recently the head of the financial institutions group for Southeast Asia.
AdHis career also includes senior investment banking positions at Barclays, Daiwa, and Citigroup. Throughout his tenure, he has advised a wide range of financial companies, including banks, insurers, asset managers, and leasing firms across the Asian market.
Strategic Importance
The hire is positioned as a strategic move to enhance the bank's regional presence. "This appointment will further strengthen our Top 3 FIG franchise in Asia Pacific, while enhancing connectivity and collaboration across our global platform," Evans said in the memo.
The appointment underscores the ongoing competition among global banks for experienced talent to capture a larger share of deal-making and advisory work within Asia's dynamic financial sector.
