Agility Robotics Unveils Upgraded Digit 5 Humanoid Robot, Cites Over $300M in Customer Orders

Agility Robotics has unveiled Digit 5, the latest version of its bipedal humanoid robot, designed for operation in human-centric environments like warehouses and manufacturing facilities without traditional safety barriers. The Salem, Oregon-based company stated the new model incorporates learnings from over 65,000 hours of operational experience from its predecessor in commercial deployments.
Enhanced Capabilities and NVIDIA Partnership
The Digit 5 introduces significant hardware and software upgrades. A new safety architecture, leveraging proprietary AI algorithms and multiple sensors, allows the robot to continuously monitor for people and autonomously avoid, stop, or assume a seated position to ensure safe co-working. Agility Robotics is the first launch partner for NVIDIA's Halos for Robotics platform, integrating its safety systems with NVIDIA IGX Thor and Halos Core infrastructure.
Key physical enhancements include:
- Payload Capacity: A 40% increase, enabling the robot to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Power System: A new battery provides 90 minutes of runtime and charges in just 9 minutes, allowing for over 20 hours of productive work in a 24-hour cycle.
- Dimensions: The robot weighs 284 pounds, stands 5 feet 11 inches tall, and can reach a height of 7.2 feet.
Commercial Traction and Production
AdAgility Robotics reported strong market interest, with over $300 million in multi-year customer orders for Digit 5 as of May 2026, subject to the satisfaction of contractual milestones. The previous model, Digit 4, has been deployed at customer sites including Amazon, GXO, Schaeffler, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada.
At a GXO facility near Atlanta, a Digit 4 unit achieved a cumulative milestone of moving 100,000 totes while maintaining approximately 98% accuracy, according to the company. The robots are assembled at Agility’s 70,000-square-foot RoboFab facility in Salem, which is designed to produce up to 10,000 robots per year at full capacity.
Market Outlook and Availability
The company plans to begin early access to Digit 5 in the first half of 2027. General availability for manufacturing, warehouse, and distribution operators is anticipated by the end of 2027. The launch represents a significant step in the commercialization of general-purpose humanoid robots for logistics and industrial automation.
